A shared canteen for the coast villages
Pointe aux Canonniers continues Grand Baie along the north coast, between Grand Baie and Mont Choisy, on the same coastal strip as Pereybere to the north-east and Trou aux Biches to the south-west. That is what turns a neighbourhood snack into the canteen of a whole area: from most of these villages you arrive within a few minutes by car, without heading down to Port Louis or crossing the interior of the island.
In practice it changes how you order. If you live or stay in Grand Baie or Pointe aux Canonniers, you drop by the counter whenever it suits you. The one constraint to know is the timing. The snack is open Monday to Friday, 7am to 2pm — not at weekends, not in the evening. The Rs 250 daily menu, cooked in a single pot in the morning, almost always sells out before 1pm; after that there are still filled breads, as long as there is bread.
